Vieux Montreal

All the glory of a pillar,
ambient lights,
soothing down-tones,
brisk, cold air beyond glass.

Classics through blackened,
punked out, vicious voices,
threatening to break through windows,
shatter and shower upon those below,
who waft thick, foggy air upwards,
reaching for the rafters.

A little procrastination before
the cold trod, homeward bound,
to the alarm clock blink.
